What is Douze Points?
Douze Points is the only Eurovision Theme night in London (that we know of anyway!) It takes place every second Thursday of the month from 8.30pm in the Retro Bar on George Court, London (Just off the Strand). It has been running since 1999 and provides the perfect opportunity for Eurovision fans to meet up and enjoy a great night out!
The format
Your favourite Eurovision music is played all night and in between songs, there is an opportunity to win a free drink by correctly answering one of the Eurovision related questions. The highlight of the night is the mini Contest. You and your group of friends can volunteer to be one of six juries. Videos of former Eurovision entries from six random countries are played and each jury must vote on the songs. Click here to see a list of previous winners.
In April, we show all the songs that will be competing in the semi final. The songs that come out on top then qualify for our Preselection contest in May, when we show all the videos of the songs that qualified in April, along with the remaining songs. Everyone is divided into juries to vote on the songs and a winner is decided. We have yet to predict a winner! Click here to see the list of songs that won our contest.
Our Website
We finally managed to launch our own website in November 2005! From here, you can find out all about Douze Points, see what songs and videos have been played each month and test your Eurovision trivia. At the moment we have details covering the last 5 months and as the months go by, the Website will keep growing. If you're a regular visitor to Douze Points at the Retro Bar, we'd love to hear what you think of it. We'll post your comments on the Website along with some photos.
